Every Church has "deacons" and the duties of deacons vary from church to church. Deacons got started in the Church of Jerusalem because of a grumbling of unfairness within the Church. Deacons were to take care of the non-spiritual matters, giving the pastors more freedom to tend to the spiritual matters.
