It was no accident that the Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well for Jesus intended to go there and to meet her. Jesus broke all tradition when He spoke to the woman for she was a Samaritan and Jews and Samaritans hated one another and then she, of course was a woman. For a Jewish man to speak to a Samaritan woman in the open was strictly forbidden. Jesus is no respecter of persons and everyone who thirsts may come to Him. Jesus set the example in witnessing.
