The writer of this great hymn captured the mood of Israel as the nation waited for the promised Messiah. Silence from God for 400 years. Had God forgotten his promise to send someone to help them? Little did Israel know that the promised one from God was about to appear, but not in the form of a king or a great warrior. The promised one was coming as a tiny baby.
