Synopsis
We approach this passage by first seeking to understand the issues that faced the original readers. We discovered that they were persecuted refugees who were seeking to deal with difficulties they were having with the government, because they were slaves, and as wives of non-believing husbands. We then looked at the passage from our own position realising that it is through our suffering that God often wants us to work for Him. he doesn't always take our suffering away.
