Know What You Have
Summary
Christians have every blessing...
For this reason Paul prays for them (v15) - what does he pray for?
1. Paul prays they will know God better. V17. Not knowledge about God, but a relationship knowledge. (like marriage). It is possible to not grow in our knowledge of God.
2. Pray that we will know what God has done for them (v18).
(a) Know the hope to which he has called us. V13 - the Holy Spirit is the deposit of the hope. Hope for Christians is believing in something that is certain - not wishful thinking.
(b) The riches in His glorious inheritance. God is looking forward to being with His Church. We often underestimate the value of Church in the eyes of God. Currently maybe unattractive, but God is working on us. Pray that we may see the Church's privileged place in His plan.
(c) Come to know the power that is at work (v19). Same power He used to raise Jesus from the dead. Resurrection power! Nothing and no one will ever be able to challenge Jesus, and that same power in us.
