The Good News spreads
Summary
The Church has spread across the whole world (Acts 1:8 - ends of the earth).
1. The way it spreads. - When people share the good news. Philip goes to Samaria (v5). Others spread it as well (v4). Jesus' command is for every Christian. Probably through normal relationships as people notice the difference - 1 Peter 3:15. The way we live ought to raise questions.
2. Why does it spread. Because God is faithful to His promises (v5, 14). The Samaritans were outcasts, and no longer part of Israel. Jeremiah 31:5,6 - God promised to bring the Samaritans back. Here in Acts, the prophecy is fulfilled. (v15-17 - God making it clear the Samaritans are not a lower-class Christians. They had the same experience as the Jews on the day of Pentecost).
3. Do we need a special impact (eg like Philip v5-8). The miracles were not enough by themselves (v9,10). But Philip preached (v12) - Simon was just attracted by the miracles but he was not really converted. (v20-22). Miracles are not a guarantee that more people will believe - the message is what they need.
