We have many cliches about tough times. For the Christian there is more available than self effort.
We can be innocently suffering because we are a Christian. Peter has mentioned a number of examples.
1. Don't be surprised by this. (eg Mtt 5:11).
2. Rejoice that you are with Jesus in this. (eg John 15:18,19). We are His and share His future.
3. Don't be ashamed but praise God. We are often classified as being odd or marginalised because we are Christians.
4. Commend yourself to God by doing good (ie, being godly).
