Now about spiritual gifts
Summary
The Corinthians were comparing their spiritual gifts with each other. There are many problems with the concept 'spiritual gifts'.
1. God is one God. Spiritual includes the whole Trinity (John 14:7ff 'we will make our home in you'). In Corinthians, they use the term 'Spiritual', but that is their word - Paul uses a differ word (v4) 'grace gifts'. In v7 - manifestation - it is a Trinitarian (v4-6). It is all about the Trinity. (v6, v11). It is the source of our gifts that it is important.
2. God works in a variety of ways. The work God is doing is us will be different to what He does in others. God does more in us than just give gifts (v4-6) and services/ministries, and workings. Paul lists some (v8-10). More than speaking in tongues. God works in lots of ways, some that stand out, and some that don't. (2 Corinthians 8:4 - giving to the needy). Thank God for our differences.
3. It is about serving for other (v7). For the common good. The focus is not us, but on others. Be ready to serve anywhere and faithfully. Belonging and participating in the local Church is not an option, serving is what we must do. Don't be an observer.
