Resist the Devil
Summary
The devil often treated as a joke. He is there from the beginning. He is our real enemy. Notice these temptations:
1. Doing something that would compromise your relationship with God. God had put Him in the wilderness. We must depend on God for the whole of life, but most people have so much and feel they don't need God.
2. Jesus resists the lie to put other gods in place of the true God. Our modern gods - job security, material security etc.
3. Make God prove His love for you. God is not there to serve us - He will protect and love us.
Implications: (a) Jesus came to serve. (b) Jesus was able to resist the devil's lies (c) For this reason Jesus could take our place on the cross. (d) Only Jesus could undo the results of the fall.
