Summary
Luke 2 is about the days immediately after the birth of Jesus.
1. Fulfilment. Simeon is old, ready to die now they have seen Jesus. The waiting for the coming King is over. The New Age is dawning. We need to be aware of what it would be like before Jesus came.
2. Universal impact. Born in obscurity in a manger. The poverty of the family by their offering of doves. Simeon says - light to all nations. Universal impact, every person born. Some will stand, others will fall.
3. Comfort. Isaiah 40 background of comfort for God's people by having sin dealt with. Now we have some negative words - trouble ahead. The Cross.
