Studies in the book of: Luke
The Kingdom of God is near
Summary
Jesus has bringing in the Kingdom of God. Stop rebelling against God and now live for Him. Come in completion when Jesus returns. How are we responding to this Kingdom?
1. He sent them out. Hard, dangerous and urgent. Why did Jesus still send them - because the message is so important.
2. Two responses. 'Peace' - end of hostilities between you and God. Two responses - welcome, or no. The message: ' The Kingdom is near'. If not welcome (v10), they are actually rejecting Jesus the King. Notice the future judgement for those who turn from the King of peace.
3. God's mission. It not up to the messenger, but God. (Lord of the harvest). Those who think they know more than God, the message is hidden. But there will be those who receive it.

Our joy is not in the mission, but that we have eternity with God (v20).
Note: (a) our privilege to be involved in God's mission (b) where do we find our joy?
