2 Peter 2:1-22   Reading
Studies in the book of: 2 Peter
Truth Matters
Summary
'Fake New', mis-information and propaganda is everywhere. Many websites are unreliable.
1 Pet 1 is a glorious picture of the results of salvation. Chapter 2 is in complete contrast. Destruction on those who spread false news, and listen to it. Three examples: (a) Angels. (b) Flood (c) Sodom and Gomorrah
1. What is the difference. The message and messengers. Peter (Ch 1) was an eye-witness and looked forward to the future. False teachers (Ch 2) focus on now and selfish, greedy etc. No focus on Jesus. No development of faith, and love, and give false hopes. Worst 'false' message is that which which comes out of the church, subtly introduced. (v14 baited and ensnared like a fish).
2. How can we protect ourselves? Peter warns the false teachers will come. Be prepared (a) Truth matters, and what you believe. (b) Focus on the end - false teachers focus on now. (c) We need to know our sources (Peter was an eye-witness) (d) Be reassured. The truth will win.
