Being 'in between'. Waiting. The whole of the Christian life here is being 'in between'.
1. God's word about the end. Going to happen, but many doubters (v3). Sometimes we wonder, 'what is God doing'. God will do what He has promised (v2). Example of how God will fulfil His promises (Flood). Why 2000 years? v8. God's patience so more people can be part of His Salvation. Our view of time differs to God. Now is the time for repentance.
2. While we wait. What does this mean for now (v11). (a) waiting v12,13,14. Not passive waiting, but preparing for things to come. (b) We live holy lives (v11) We make every effort to be ready for our new destination. - More than moral rightness - but everything shaped by God's presence and will. (c) We are to grow (v13) in grace and knowledge. Warning v17, people will distort the scriptures.
