Will we be prepared for the hard times and battles.
1. The battle is real. (v10) Spiritual battle - sometimes self-inflicted bad choices, but there is more going. Often subtle, and we do not discern or see it. Popular thinking is so attractive, but tries to make God unnecessary. The devil is a liar, and makes us question God's love. The devil attacks relationship by all sorts of ways. God's truth silences the battle. Jesus has defeated the devil by His resurrection.
2. Get ready for the battle. How do we survive - because the one who won the battle fights for us (v10-12) The armour of God (v14ff) - the Gospel - all the Spiritual blessings of Ephesians 1. Stand firm and fight his lies with truth, our doubts replaced the righteousness, our failings by God's grace.
3. Prayer. (18-20). Crucial part of Paul's ministry - all areas, people, and situations. Be specific in prayer (eg Paul asked for courage). Like a child, we are dependant on God.
