Acts 9:1-31   Reading
Studies in the book of: Acts
Jesus captures His premier witness
Summary
Some events have life long implications.
What do we see of Jesus here in Acts 9?
1. The grace of God - the kindness of Jesus. Saul approved the stoning of Stephen, and the ongoing persecution of the Church (v1,2). On the way to Damascus, we see the kindness of Jesus (v3-5). Jesus wants to make Saul His own. All are within the scope of God's grace.
2. The family of God - the closeness of Jesus (v4,5). Jesus is close to His people. (eg Isaiah 63:7ff). Two reactions (a) Joy to know we are so close to Him (b) Could be terror, one day He will be our judge.
3. The plan of God - the servants of Jesus. The Gospel is spreading like wildfire. Paul will be ministering mainly to Gentiles (v15). God uses two ordinary people Ananias and Barnabas (v15,17 - note word 'Brother') and (v26,27). They made sure Saul was welcome into the family of God. Servants like this, do the simple things well.
