Preparing for the King
Summary
The Gospel it is 'good news'. Often associated with a victory.
A messenger (John the Baptist) would be sent to announce the coming King, and to ensure we are read.
1. Why should we get ready for the King? He brings both peace and judgement.
2. How do we get ready for the King? Repentance ('turn around').
3. The King's mission. He is powerful, God in the flesh. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit. Repentance will only take us so far, but we need new heart (Ezekiel 36) that God gives us. Jesus gives new heart to us.
This is a result of Christ death (Col 1:21). This is the 'good news'.
How we respond to Jesus has eternal significance.
