The Bible and Homosexuality Other Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:9, Romans 6:20
Topic Study: Man & Woman and God
Summary
Two significant things - the public debate; real people are involved in this.
1. Homosexuality and the Bible. Sexual behavior between people of the same sex is wrong. Marriage in the Bible is always seen as between a man and a women. Whenever Homosexuality is mentioned, it is always wrong. Many passages and examples are given.
2. Implications
(a) It is a sin (it is not the worst sin, on same level as greed, lying etc). Not beyond forgiveness.
(b) Behavior, not orientation. SAA (same sex attraction) is only 5% of population, but not necessarily practiced homosexuality. Less than 2% are openly gay.
(c) Identity is not defined by sexual behavior, rather we are creatures in God's image.
(d) SAA is a struggle. God's will is holiness. Struggling is not a sign of failure, but of life.
(e) Do not condemn. We all have areas where we struggle.
(f) Gay marriage is not valid according to the Bible.
(g) What about our own belief - continue to love all.
