Colossians 1:9-14   Reading
Studies in the book of: Colossians
A prayer for Christian growth
Summary
It is amazing how a child grows. Parents, also encourage their child in growth.
Paul encourages the Colossians by praying for them.
1. They may know God's will. (v9). Starts with responding to God. It is only God who can reveal Himself to us. Comes through the Bible, illuminated by His Spirit. How often do we pray this for others? And what does it mean to know God's will - it is how to live to please God.
2. We are to do God's will (v10,11). Our knowledge of God affects our behaviour. (Col 1:21, 2;13 - they have changed). And as we respond we will grow. We will be able to stand firm in difficult times and temptation (v11).
3. Give joyful thanks to God (v12-14). We have the light, a new identity, an inheritance, part of His family. All because of His salvation, which is all of His grace. (v14). Are we still in the dark, or walking in darkness.
