Matthew 6:1-18   Reading
Studies in the book of: Matthew
Giving, prayer and fasting
Summary
Hypocrites. Jesus sets a high standard. We are to have a real genuine righteousness. Jesus says our motives matter.
1. Giving. Our praise from people should not be a motivation for giving. Fake generosity. Jesus' solution is secrecy - guard your motives.
2. Prayer. Confusing our privilege of praying to our great God by being concerned what people think. The secret to sincerity is secrecy. We don't need to manipulate or bargain with God - our loving Father knows what we need.
3. Fasting. Don't do good things to look for praise from people around us.

Choose to have the right motive. Do things secretly, and refrain from telling others about our actions.
