Praying for God's Guidance
Summary
How morally strong are we? Protect from sin in the future.
1. What is temptation? (Trial is probably a better word). Positive trials of testing to prove something is real. Perfectly acceptable to ask for God's deliverance from a trial. (eg Jesus on His way to the cross). Negative - the temptation to sin. God doesn't tempt us to sin. Temptation is to doubt about God. Not sinful to be tempted - it is sinful to give in. Stay well clear of danger. What is our weak point.
2. We are actually praying something positive - lead us into righteousness. (a) God promises to speak to us through His word. We don't need extra information. (b) God is in control of all circumstances and events.
3. 'The evil one' that is Satan. The cross of Christ crushes Satan's power.
