Is Christmas just a kids story?
1. Luke 1 - An encounter with the angel Gabriel. She is the only witness, because that is what happened.
2. Matt 1 - Angel tells Jospeh to take Mary as his wife - serious social scandal. (Could be stoned to death). Joseph told the story, a story that could destroy his name. It was too important.
3. Luke 2 - The angel tells the shepherds. Shepherds were underclass, despised (bogan). They WERE the first witnesses.
4. Matt 2 - Wise (astrology) men were foreigners in a fiercely nationalistic nation. They don't fit. That is what happened.
The shepherds give us the lead - let us take the account seriously and investigate.
