Luke 10:38-42   Reading
Studies in the book of: Luke
The one ministry that's needed
Summary
A ministry we all need. Both women were doing great things.
1. The two sisters: Martha welcome and served Jesus. This is a right response. Mary has it right - she is listening to Jesus. We are all disciples - we learn from the Master.
2. The problem. Martha was distracted, and probably wanted to sit at the feet of Jesus. She confronted Jesus, almost rebuking Jesus. Lost perspective, probably fussing over every little thing. Gentle rebuke from Jesus. We can lose touch with the One we are doing it for.
3. Our natural default setting is to do things we like, but the danger they become an end in themselves.
Three encouragements: (a) Jesus' ministry to us is most important and fundamental. (b) Gospel social impact - eg, educating women - all equal under God. (c) Jesus knows what we are doing.
