Fear God
Summary
Often told to 'fear God' - not paralysing fear - but a good thing.
1. A right fear of God - respect - reverence - awe. Why? (a) He knows. No secrets. Play acting. Motives. (b) He will judge. v4,5. He is not a 'soft touch'. Jesus said a lot about judgement. (c) He cares for us. - don't be afraid.
2. Implications. (a) Rejoice - Jesus will acknowledge us in heaven. (b) Don't fear anything less than God - in this case the religious rulers (v4, 11,12) - We are intended for eternity. (c) Be open. - Be prepared to acknowledge God. - explain our hope when asked. (d) Trust (v11,12) - He will give you the words through His Spirit.
