Compassion and power of the Lord
Summary
The most powerful can do nothing about death. But Jesus can.
1. Jesus and the dead man - compassion and power. Jesus knows that all death is a result of sin. A loving God meets her in her point of need. Jesus commands the dead boy to get up. He undoes the tragedy - Jesus who loves is Lord of the situation.
2. The crowd's response. Filled with awe and respond as best they can. But their understanding is limited. But did they follow Jesus?
3. Our response. What is illustrated ought to change our lives. We are still affected by sin. Jesus is our hope. (a) Jesus has compassion, and we too should do that towards the needy. (b) We need to share the message of hope of new life. (c) Jesus is all sufficient in every circumstance.
